Local-first

Lecta is a local-first desktop tool. Your screen recordings, video editing, and subtitle generation all happen on your own computer, and your original recording files are never uploaded to us or any third party.

Subtitle generation

Subtitles are generated offline by a built-in local speech recognition model (whisper.cpp). It does not connect to the internet, upload audio, or call any cloud recognition API.

Account and licensing

If you create an account or purchase Pro, we only collect the information we need—such as your email, order, and license status—to handle sign-in, sync your Pro benefits, and provide support. We do not sell your personal information.

Anonymous usage statistics

When you are signed in, we may collect anonymous feature usage statistics (such as how many recordings you make and which features you use) to improve the product. This data never includes any of your recording content.
